World Series Game 6: Phillies vs Astros Odds and Predictions: Will Houston Host and Win and Hoist the Trophy Tonight?

world series

After suffering a crushing defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 1, the Houston Astros needed a big performance from Framber Valdez in Game 2 of the World Series.

If he plays as well in Game 6 as he did in Game 2, the Astros will win the World Series for a second time this season.

Last night, in Game 5, Justin Verlander won his first World Series game, bringing Houston within one victory of baseball’s ultimate prize.

After falling behind 1-0 and 2-1 in the series, the Astros battled back and are now favorites to win Game 6 in front of their home crowd. But the Phillies have battled valiantly throughout the playoffs, and they’ll be sending their best pitcher to the mound for Game 6.

Prior to their current run, the Astros were three victories away from clinching at home against the Washington Nationals.

Despite having a 107-win season, they went home empty-handed from the 2019 World Series after failing to retain a lead in Games 6 and 7.

They finished with 106 wins in 2022, but will they be able to seal the deal on Saturday night or will the Phillies bring back bad memories and force a winner-take-all game on Sunday?

Phillies vs Astros Prediction: Astros to win

The Phillies had fared better against left-handed pitchers this year, but they were shut out by Valdez as Houston won Game 2 by a score of 5-2. Valdez allowed only one run on four hits and three walks while striking out nine batters in 6.1 innings of work according to OKbet Baseball Betting.

Wheeler struggled in Game 2, surrendering five runs (four earned) on six hits and three walks over five innings while Valdez excelled.

Valdez (Game 2), Cristian Javier (Game 4), and Verlander (Game 5) have all pitched well for the Astros, while Ranger Suarez (Game 3) pitched five scoreless innings for the Phillies in their 3-0 victory.

Since Valdez has pitched well in the postseason, they can’t afford that in Game 6 if they want to force a Game 7; instead, they’ll need Wheeler to throw like he did in Game 1 against St. Louis (6.1 scoreless innings) and Game 1 against San Diego (seven shutout innings).

You can’t discount the Phillies just yet, especially because they’ve already won the series opener in Houston’s Minute Maid Park. But I think tomorrow night will be the Astros’ crowning moment after they’ve triumphed on back-to-back nights in stressful scenarios in a hostile environment.

Since the Cubs won Game 7 of the 2016 World Series against the Cleveland Indians by a score of 8-7 in extra innings, there has not been a championship-clinching game decided by a margin of a single run. I’m betting on Houston to maintain their winning ways and take home the championship.
